Did you know the attorneys general for Missouri, Kansas, and Idaho actually made the argument that fewer pregnant teens is an injury to the state in a lawsuit designed to ban access to birth control via the mail?

They hung a banner which read ‘Our children don’t want their mothers to go to jail’

Feminism should be a movement for all, especially those facing systemic oppression. If feminism excludes sex workers, it is failing at its core mission. The real question is whether feminism is willing to evolve beyond its historical biases and fight for all people’s safety.

"carceral feminism" advocates for laws like the Nordic Model, which claims to punish clients rather than workers. In reality, these policies make sex work more dangerous. A feminism that relies on the prison-industrial complex to "help" people is just reinforcing state violence.

Sex work is disproportionately criminalized along racial and class lines. Women of color and trans women are more likely to be arrested, incarcerated, or experience police violence. Many white middle-class feminist perspectives have historically reinforced this violence.
