Hi folks 👋

I haven’t started a new social in like a decade. How does this work again?

Right now I’m 3 chapters from finishing a book manuscript, and recently started a high intensity rocketship job. Saw a prancing unicorn and jumped on

Mostly posting in-progress ideas from the book.
I like how startups started talking about ARR instead of valuation. Best part of the current hype cycle ❤️

So I finished High Output Management by Andy Grove last night. Great read, feels like every management book since has been its cover song.

✅ outcomes > outputs
✅ OKRs
✅ delegate decisions

Remember when AI was gonna take our jobs? I've never felt busier. The more I get done, the more there is to do.

Buy a bike they said it’ll be fun they said
Now it’s leaking oil and the amount of “oh yeah” I heard from the mechanics sounds expensive 😅

You can always tell when I haven't published a blog in a while because my slacks, meeting notes, and project updates start getting long 😅

The more coaching conversations I have IRL, the less I feel like writing down my thoughts. Why is that?

you’d think those would produce lots of ideas

Cursor agents are great for tasks where you care about the outcome and not the details.

Like I wanted easy access to this info. It doesn't really matter what it looks like

I think a lot of engineers learn the names for technologies instead of understanding what they do

You've heard of Chesterton's fence yes? When you see bad code DONT DELETE! It might serve a purpose you don't realize.

But there's a deeper lesson most engineers miss: Once you understand why the code is there do delete. It might serve a purpose that's no longer necessary!

Creating a book is a lot more fun than getting it published. This is such a silly process
