V Rising - open-world survival craft games are not a genre I frequent, but this was the most enjoyable out of the few. Game progression flows nicely, with only a few grindy bits at the start and end. Unlocking all the technology was, dare I say, harder than beating Dracula on Brutal difficulty.

I had a witty description thought up for this, but it's eluding me now. Something something, birthday!!!

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare - modern Call of Duty campaigns might be overdoing the difficulty, playing through this on Veteran wasn't a challenge nor a constant run for cover. There's missables on every level, so it's recommended you go through it with a guide. Even so, only took me 12 hours.

Hotel Renovator - a remodeling simulator reminiscent of House Flipper, but with all the jank and very little that stands out. The plot feels like a fever dream, and a lot of mechanics are ultimately useless. No missables, everything should unlock by story mode completion. Took me about 12 hours.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (Multiplayer) - packaged as a separate game for some reason, for all the modes except campaign. Exo Zombies was pretty fun; Descent is by far one of my favorite maps. Most achievements can be unlocked solo, but two on Outbreak require you to do co-op. Took me 40 hours.

Fallout: New Vegas - the most fun I've had with any Fallout game. This has been an on-and-off completion over the past six years, and I'm glad to have gotten it done before Season 2 of the show drops. Game's good. Really good. I think I'm the only person alive who actually fucking likes Caravan.

Megabonk - another roguelite with the gameplay of Risk of Rain but the XP leveling system and permanent progression of Vampire Survivors. It's a fine enough game, but the novelty wears off after a couple runs, and the humor's either cheap references or dated jokes. Took me about 50 hours.

Desktop Survivors 98 - a roguelite dungeon crawler with an early 2000's desktop theming. It's got a similar gimmick as Windowkill; fun but a relatively short time to beat for the genre, at around 20 hours. Achievements are hidden initially on Steam, but can be checked through an in-game application.

The Roottrees are Dead - a mystery game where you need to deduce a century-long family tree using late-90's Internet. I'm a sucker for these kinds of settings, and it has lots of small references and easter eggs put in that I found charming. Some missables, but a very clear PONR. Took me 11 hours.

Skatehouse - a shop simulator where you sell skateboards and expand into other board types, as well as scooters and BMX bikes. I'm no skater myself, but the vibe of it is captured very well in the design of this game, and it's clear a lot of love was put into it by its solo dev. Took about 5 hours.

Roboquest - an action roguelike where 99% of the characters are robots. The upgrade system in runs is very fun, and it's nice to watch each of your choices fall into place with your builds. Collectibles aren't a huge issue, as there's late-game features to help you mop up whatever you're missing.
August 24, 2025 at 3:56 AM
The Solitaire Conspiracy - a short FMV solitaire game with a spy thriller story. Each of the face cards in the Crews (different suits you unlock) having unique abilities was fun. Most achievements are based on story completion, with a few tied to other modes you unlock later.

Proverbs - a puzzle game mix between Picross and Minesweeper, where you solve one giant puzzle (split into sections). It's plain harmless fun, and has hint and remove errors buttons that you can use with no penalty. Achievements aren't missable, as they're tied to completion. Took me about 35 hours.

Ultimate Zombie Defense - got it during a free promotion, otherwise it's $5. It's got the groundworks of an interesting game, but without much depth or polish. Achievements are not hard at all, with the most trouble being given by one that just requires keeping the game open for an hour straight.

Tried the Dead as Disco demo this morning. It's *really* fun, and the design is impressive too. There's not much of the main story/features playable in it, but the Infinite Disco arena allows you to fight waves of enemies to the game's library of songs, or import songs of your own with a custom BPM.

7 Days To Die - it was fun in 2016. Not an enjoyable experience nowadays, and a sham for the $45 it costs. Major changes to core mechanics are made on a whim, and it has slower updates than Phasmophobia. Last few achievements have a miserable tens-of-hours long XP grind, even with a 300% multiplier.
July 1, 2025 at 9:27 PM
Cardboard Town - a roguelite card-based city builder. It was fun for a day or two, but didn't have as much depth as I was expecting. The nine 'game modes' included are basically just different difficulty options, and there's little incentive to play them outside of the two needed for achievements.
July 1, 2025 at 1:07 AM
Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince - a side-scrolling puzzle game where you swap between three unique characters. Played it in co-op, and although it's not a genre I frequent, it was surprisingly fun. Completing each level fully / getting their collectibles is easy with the level select; took 11 hours.
June 22, 2025 at 6:57 PM
Cryptark - feels more like a demo or teaser rather than a full product. The core gameplay loop is fun, but it's rather short, and I can't help but feel like there should be more here. A few playthroughs in each of the modes are required to get all of the achievements; only took me 6 hours though.
June 19, 2025 at 2:26 PM
New Tales from the Borderlands - fucked up that I've beaten both episodic games before any of the main Borderlands games. Story wasn't *that* bad, but the two best characters got the least screentime. Game has a lotta missables and'll take a few playthroughs; just keep a guide up while playing.
June 18, 2025 at 1:38 PM
Deadlink - got this in a bundle awhile ago. Gameplay is decent, but the story feels like it was tacked on later, and there's still much to be desired. The harder difficulties you unlock are only flat stat value changes. None of the achievements are missable, though there are a *lot* of grindy ones.

Happy birthday to Hux / The Singularity from Dead by Daylight, whose a whopping negative 288 years old today! Coincidentally, I also just got him to Prestige 100. Nice. #deadbydaylight #dbd

Mortal Kombat 11 - came back to this after a few years since the low unlock % was weighing down my completion rate. Turns out I didn't need fatalities officially 'unlocked' on characters for me to do them. The rest of the game was...eh, insufferable, but maybe I'm just not built for fighting games.
June 11, 2025 at 11:20 AM
Froggy's Battle - a roguelike where you play as a magic skateboarding frog and fight enemies in a circular loop arena. It's badass. Like Doot's other games, most achievements should unlock in a standard 3ish-hour playthrough, but getting the Hard Mode-specific ones took me twice as long.
