Went to academy to buy Calvincito new shoes. We were walking towards the shoes when we encountered a family of Asian descent. A dad with four sons. The youngest stared me down as if he’d seen a ghost. I’ve been playing the staring contest with Calvin lately so I was more than prepared.

I’m beginning my unemployment journey as an openly queer transgender non-binary Chicanx parent in TX & My son cried today when he was curious about the ICE vehicles at the apt complex next to us. He asked if we could move out of TX, I said it’s happening all over America rn. he cried more. He’s 8.
