I did just buy a Brick Hammer for $70 USD which makes me wonder if I should have paid the extra $20 (plus shipping) for the Mangmi Air X instead but I liked the idea of getting a decent vertical handheld (the Retroid Pocket Classic is $99+ shipping but arguably overkill for what it’s designed for)

I think the real value of the Smart Pro S will come into play once the device goes for a discount. For maybe $15-20 USD less I could definitely see it as a good smaller, more budget-conscious alternative for a widescreen emulation handheld for up to PSP.

The Machine will challenge the major consoles, but for existing PC gamers it will either complement as a living room PC. If Valve price it aggressively enough (which they can), it could seriously threaten Windows too as a full on desktop replacement.

I’m most interested in the new Steam Controller since I never got the first one, and the Frame only interests me from its potential as a mobile standalone device alternative to the Quest.

There are signs of their mobile ambitions in the Frame, being based on a mobile chipset and running a new ARM version of SteamOS, with compatibility for APKs and Proton capabilities… how long until a Steam store on Android with cross buy/crossplay?
