Posts on recreating old computers, dogs, renovating my house, trans stuff, the usual.
It never ceases to amaze how fragile Western Australia's power grid is. One poxy thunderstorm: hundreds of thousands of people without power for many hours.

Using the tines on the box scraper to pop rocks and rubbish out of our paddock, and break up some of the compacted areas. Max is very happy at finding vintage stick.

Dogs agree big breakfast done on the barbecue is the best ever.

How it started... How it's going

Max the queer dog says we need to paint a rainbow on the tractor to match our pride boxblade.
December 11, 2025 at 1:39 AM
Hot tractor porn. An hour's work with the box blade on my firebreaks = many weekends with shovel and rake.
December 11, 2025 at 1:27 AM
OMG we own a tractor!

One of the nice things of spending an entire career working in micro-electronics, and doing it as a hobby also, is that when it comes time to change out your Gameboy screen for a fancy backlit one, it's actually rather easy.

First picture emerges of our new tractor. Be jealous bitches!
December 9, 2025 at 11:57 PM
Shed tidied up a bit to make space in anticipation of arrival of new tractor.

Son of tractor lurks in the shadows...

Bought a little 10" 1280x800 display from Core electronics. Running it from my freebee microbee recreation using a gbs-8200 upscaler.

Shows some promise. Of note 1280x800 will do 640x264 (bee 80x24 mode) pixel perfect with 2x3 pixels...

Actually after this I'm more likely to just ride my singles.

Just cracked open my very last Veloflex Master 23. It was good while it lasted. After this one's done I fear I'll have to swap to 32mm tubeless tyres, huge piles of sealant, and 13 speed dinnerplate cassettes.

2nd puncture 4km from the car. I think I'm gonna have a good few ouchies days.

After harvesting the marrow, we give Sam an opportunity to eviscerate.

Sam is a bit overwhelmed. Max is very happy to help. He's good at evisceration.

Tomato plant diary day #32

@iknowthezarbi.bsky.social was too busy cleaning the kitchen up after the Ragu, so missed the appearance of two new fruits.

Max and Sandy are always good for protec plant.

Tomato plant diary day #30.

Houston, we have fruit.
December 4, 2025 at 12:44 AM
Fucking trans. Yup. I'll pay that.
December 3, 2025 at 11:45 AM
Well summer here has arrived right on cue:

In the name of science, we're performing our annual experiment to figure out how much whisky one Christmas pudding can sustain. This year, we've advanced from last year's benchmark of 150ml to 160. Maggy Fulton recommends 90ml, but with double the fruit. Cowardice!
November 30, 2025 at 6:29 AM
That's a terribly good idea.

Tomato plant diary day #22

Mum, I really think you shouldn't go lower than f/4, as dog's feeling very fuzzy.
November 25, 2025 at 1:02 AM
It's got flowers! Also picked off a couple more laterals and added a tie to the top wire...

Just hit total nerd nirvana. @iknowthezarbi.bsky.social bought me a stand for cook books. I can use it to hold my iPad running a gameboy emulator, playing Tetris using a bluetooth controller while listening to Mike Oldfield via airplay. Oh, and drinking wine. Not sure if the wine helps my scores.
