This is absolutely shocking !! How can this government make any claim to climate action when not only are they legislating for the unrestricted increase in flights, but they are also ensuring there is no way of limiting them based on their climate impacts?
An appalling proposal is hidden at the end of the Government’s Bill on the airport cap; it would exclude decisions under the legislation from the current obligation on almost all public bodies to consider their climate impact and to be consistent with climate objectives.

The Dublin Airport passenger cap is legal according to the ECJ. We should not be implementing the legislation to remove it. The infrastructure around the airport is not designed to deal with the additional capacity. www.irishtimes.com/business/202...

Limiting the regulation of Short term let's to towns over 20k is creating an unregulated market in the rest of the country and prevents the enforcement of existing laws in the industry. This is bad for towns, tourism and compliant providers. It is particularly bad for people looking to buy a home
The government have watered down their plans again, this time to appease Michael Healy-Rae. We don't need a national policy on short-term lets, but we do need to give local authorities the ability to enforce planning regulations.

Huge congrats to @greenparty.ie fingal councillor @davidhealy.bsky.social for submitting this motion to @fingal.ie for them to stop using X. A big win!
Thanks to my fellow councillors for agreeing unanimously that @fingal.ie should stop using X, especially mayor Tom O’Leary for taking the suspension of standing orders and John Smith for suggesting that approach.
Fingal County Council has decided to stop using X for its communications, except for emergency communications, @michaellanigan.bsky.social points out to me, after watching the meeting.

CEFOI has submitted a to the consultation on Private Wire Legislation asking them to recognise the importance of community projects. The private wires legislation needs to reflect the needs of communities, not just the needs of large energy users like Data Centres.
Private wire legislation should support microgrids which are community-owned and renewables-based – CEFOI

We welcome the Tánaiste’s reassurance that new laws will not make cycling without a helmet a crime.

While using helmets is important for cyclists, this law would have criminalised cyclists rather than users of high speed motorised bikes, scramblers and scooters, and dangerous drivers.

Why are we constantly demonising e scooters? Car users cause far more issues for pedestrians 50km in towns, parking on footpaths, ignoring crossings. This list is endless. Enforcing existing rules for escooters will make them safer. www.rte.ie/news/politic...
