He skates better when he’s cocky. I’ve learned to love that about him. Ilia is human. We all learned that today.

I want him to have a good cry, then laugh. Life is unpredictable. No one who has ever seen him skate, will think he’s not a great skater who has changed the sport forever. You are human. Chin up Ilia, you go home with a gold medal that you and your teammates wouldn’t have without your skating.

Ilia is human after all. That’s a good thing to know. Respect for Olympic ice, it’s not just another competition.

That’s a very bright spot in another wise shocking day. So happy for Shaidorov.

There was a superbowl?

Nerves.

She got some nerves out of her system. Ilya still looked nervous when he took the ice for free, but by the final 1/3rd, he was back to his cocky, confident talented self.

Ellie Kam & Danny OShea out performed their expectations, moved from 5th to 4th and got an extra point for the US. That point helped make the difference. Shouldn’t be overlooked.

I do love the drama. They seem to really want the French dancers to be villains.

I’m old. I remember Sean White as a teenager. Though snowboarding & all these aerial events were “slacker sports”. But I’m a convert. Love it all except maybe the cross country /shooting events. Love bobsled!

Best part was NBC keeping mics live after Vilieva won gold & hearing the whiny, unsportsmanlike hissy of the Russian Silver & Bronze medalists. “I’m the only one didn’t get gold” And there stands Kaori Sakamoto (awarded bronze once the doping Vilieva was DQ’d) patiently waiting for them to grow up.

Tune it out Amber. Haters gonna hate.

As if I couldn’t love her more! Screaming like someone was pulling her toenails out! I don’t even want to think of the figure skating world without Kaori next year.

Are you old enough to remember Tai Babylonia and Randy Gardner? That was excellence. My heart is still broken since 1980.
