The main thing to keep in mind is Trump is a symptom. Not the cause. Even if he dies tomorrow, the US isn't going to change.

As a Canadian who has seen first hand how Trump treats friends and allies, the sooner Europe decouples from the US, the better. We are trying to do it as quickly as we can without sinking our economy.
The US is not trustworthy and likely will not be trustworthy again for a long time.

It is actually very consistent. They are not interested in intervening with dictatorships to help human rights and democracy. They are interested in spreading MAGA ideology, which is more in line with the dictatorship the US used to challenge.
