With this column, I really wanted to emphasize the problem with Difficulty Discourse. I've read numerous pieces about Silksong's difficulty, many from nondisabled journalists, and it continues to plague actual accessibility critiques.
Difficulty is the proverbial low hanging fruit of accessibility critiques. Accessibility consultants, champions and journalists have written articles about what difficulty is or isn’t, produced clips or reels talking about the importance of difficulty settings, and created countless threads on social media, advocating for more diverse accessibility tools to adjust a game’s difficulty. We spend so much time championing the inclusion of difficulty options that we often miss other crucial barriers that prevent a variety of disabled individuals from enjoying a new game. Is Silksong difficult? According to reviews and conversations, yes. Should we focus all our accessibility arguments on that alone? Absolutely not.

I can't help but laugh knowing that my first and only accessibility review for Polygon is now under my editor's name. Don't get me wrong, @zoehhannah.bsky.social was a fantastic editor and I'm so thankful I got to work with her! But she did not write that review!

Thank you for reaching out. Unfortunately, I'm going to decline this offer. Valnet's practices in the gaming industry have hurt so many, including fellow colleagues and friends, and I cannot in good conscience accept a job offer. Further, I have heard numerous accounts of being overworked for little pay, and this would not be conducive to my needs as a disabled person. Thank you, Grant

Just rolled credits on Split Fiction with @p0ppyfield.com! Honestly surprised by how much I thoroughly enjoyed this game! Accessibility could be better, but overall, a fantastic experience. This also marks my third completed game for this year! Here's hoping I can beat nine more by the new year.

I've had some of the best food in my life, experienced a level of independence I never thought possible with public transportation, saw sites I've only ever dreamt of, and got to spend a week seeing where @p0ppyfield.com is from! London will forever be a second home to me. I can't wait to go back.

I was invited to participate in an opening exhibition called Design and Disability at the Victoria and Albert Museum. My old Xbox 360 Controller that my brother modified, as well as my PS4 Controller, are on exhibition for the next year in London!
