If regular sodium salt increases blood pressure and potassium salt lowers it, is there a perfectly balanced mixture that has no effect on blood pressure and could everyone just use that?

We’re in The Handmaid’s Tale flashbacks *right now*. Emily was stopped at the border because her gay marriage didn’t count. Trump could do that tomorrow, and SCOTUS would let him. #prediction

Subscription idea: pay $1 a year and we will text you within 5 minutes of AWS going down. No other monitoring. This is meant as a fail safe.

An actual 100% guarantee is nontrivial and probably impossible. Both re false negatives and false positives.

Has your monitoring service truly never missed?

NEVER choose Staples 125th St as an Amazon return location. Management made a bad decision signing up for accepting Amazon returns. They “do not have the manpower to accept any Amazon returns today.”

Theory: They secretly know the truth—that citizens commit more crimes than undocumented immigrants.
So they try to fix that… by deporting the noncriminal immigrants.
New data show that ICE is pulling record numbers of people off the streets who have no criminal convictions of any kind. This is not just a change from the Biden admin. This is a radical tactical shift compared to Trump 1.0. These arrests are up over 1,000% from 2017.

Job market AI arms race end state:

An app passively watches you and decides what jobs you're qualified for. No prepping, no gaming—just get better. Like Progressive's Snapshot. You don't have to use it, but you do, because every employer does.

Scary!

Coding by hand vs with AI is kinda like #PvsNP:
easier to recognize than generate (or is it!?)
Like forgetting how to write Chinese by hand
after too much typing—
the generative pathway fades

Is democracy an aberration, not a culmination? Is the natural state (neo-)feudalism?

I partly agree w/ #JohnGray: tech doesn’t make us wiser. Moral progress isn’t linear.

But: human nature isn’t fixed. Tech and conditions shape behavior.

Roe should’ve been decided on the First Amendment. Banning abortion is establishment of religion—not every faith bans it, and some require it to protect the mother.

AI means we need fewer coders? That's the lump of labor fallacy. Unless productivity gains are massive (eg, 1 coder does the work of 10) or demand for software is inelastic, coder demand will probably *rise* due to the scale effect.

Mainstream media CON bias case in point. After a century of con attacks, they overcompensate.

No mention of Trump 1st term order efficacy, only Obama/Biden’s??

For a dem the headline would end “…but do voters want it?” or “…but will he deliver on eggs?

Trump’s executive orders already face pushback, legal challenges
The orders include some actions that scholars and legal experts say may beyond the reach of the president’s pen and could be tied up in courts or legislatures for years

But it don’t work like that. Our fates are bound up. A liberal cures cancer, and conservatives benefit. And conservatives secretly know this: they know they can take away our rights and we will still cure cancer for them. I don’t know how to stop enabling them so. 3/3
