Or maybe I am wrong, she may be a long suffering wife who just wants her marriage to work regardless. Maybe she remembers JD from when he used to be a halfway decent person and hopes he will revert. The recent public interaction between JD and Ms Kirk seems to suggest otherwise. My sympathies FWIW.

I think Ms Vance is enamored with being Second Lady, even if its for this admin, with possibility of being First, even if its through default. Briefly interacted with her mom when she was Dean of Sixth College at UCSD, a very nice caring lady. The apple really fell far from the tree with this one.

I wonder how long they think they can continue doing this sort of thing with impunity. Even ostriches know that sticking your head in the sand doesn't work (I was going to say GOP is behaving like ostriches but TIL its a myth).

To the judge's question "is he correct" the answer appears to be yes, at least so far.

We used to have Trello for weekly reports -- structured questionnaire asking abt current project/future plans etc. Liked it so much when I moved I recreated it as a Markdown template on GitHub and email the link for a new file to my manager each week. Works great for Performance Review time as well.

I see GOP politicians talk about gun violence becoming intolerable and part of me says "finally" and the other part thinks it is just performative sh*t for their base for the 2026 midterms. Although it seems this one retired from politics and finally grew a spine, if his podcast is to be believed.

Finally, @schumer.senate.gov starting to work for the people! Hope this is a (new) beginning and not an isolated incident!

This is basically the Republican playbook under Trump 45 and 47. Commit fresh new atrocities every day so people constantly refocus on new things and effectively forget the old things. Its an effective strategy, but thankfully (fingers crossed) it seems like even that has its limits.

These tariffs are just added sales tax imposed on Americans to offset revenue that Republicans under Trump handed over to their billionaire backers. Clearly just stealing our healthcare and children's school lunches wasn't enough.

But he didn't say for who though. Arguably the BBB has done as promised for his rich billionaire backers. The unwashed MAGAS were just useful idiots whose utility was as vote bank (although they would have to be a special kind of stupid to have voted for him given all that was known about him).

I wouldn't even call him a wartime president, doing so elevates him to someone like Churchill, who, for all his faults, did well by the Brits in WW2. Waging war against people of your own country is a misuse of authority and does not make him a wartime president.

Tariffs are just additional sales tax that increases revenue for the government. Poor and middle class folks generally spend more of their income each month, so they contribute larger portion of their earnings. Democrat plan of taxing the rich is fairer and hurts fewer people and hurts them less.

So should we be hopeful that there is still much to surface and Robert Mueller was just one of the many initiatives that was effectively suppressed, or despair that the justice department is so overwhelmed by the volume of evidence of criminality that they are paralyzed into inaction?

As an immigrant myself, I am probably biased, but I think immigration (and the fact that so many people want(ed) to come here) is(was) America's superpower, getting fresh infusions of talent from school systems worldwide and keeping America the leader in so many areas.

My take. I think he is doing what he can and thank him for that. The reason he and other Dems cannot do more is because we the people did not give them the votes to do the work for us. We should remedy that for the upcoming midterms.

Almost seems like our leaders and policymakers are not working in the people's and country's best interests?
