4, cont.) And second, Maerlyn's Rainbow, aka Bends o' the Bow or the Wizard's Rainbow - 13 colored glass spheres. Twelve of them represent the Beams' Guardians, but the most powerful and most dangerous of them, Black Thirteen, represents the Dark Tower.

4, cont.) There are two instances in the 'Dark Tower' series I can think of where 13 comes up: First, when Roland draws the Beams and portals in 'The Waste Lands,' explaining that where all the Beams meet is "the Great Portal, the so-called Thirteenth Gate," aka the Dark Tower.

Adding another one lol!

4) And now, after rewatching some of these clips from the show, I might've found one more 'Dark Tower' nod. Remember the scene where Necani and her tribe bury the shards to cage It in episode 4? It was specifically mentioned that 13 shards were buried.

3, cont.) I thought I might be reaching - and I still could be! - but Sesqui's headdress could've been anything. A wolf, eagle, buffalo, etc. Yet, it was a bear. Are they trying to tell us that Derry sits on the Maturin-Shardik (Bear-Turtle) Beam? Maybe? But if not, that's a hell of a coincidence.

3) War chief Sesqui's bear headdress. Remember I mentioned that each of the Tower's Beams has a Guardian at each end? In the 'Dark Tower' series, the Beam that Roland (the main character) and his friends follow is guarded by Maturin on one end. Guess what guards the other end? Shardik, a bear.

2, cont.) These Beams, which are kind of like invisible high-tension wires, support the Dark Tower, the linchpin of all universes. Six Beams pass through the Tower, with a Guardian at the ends of each Beam, guarding a portal. And that brings me to what might be the third 'Dark Tower' nod...

2) Rose's group: The Children of the Maturin, named after Maturin, a turtle guardian that is the nemesis of It. Visual representations of the turtle have popped up throughout the 'Derry' series and the 'It' movies. But the other thing about Maturin: It's also one of the 12 Guardians of the Beams.
December 10, 2025 at 8:04 AM
We already have two nods to the 'Dark Tower' series. 1) Rose and the name of her shop (and the rose added to the logo on the shop's window in 'It: Chapter Two'). Those could be a nod to Can'-Ka No Rey ("The Red Fields of None"), which is the vast field of red roses that surrounds the Dark Tower.

Coming back to this because I *just* realized I might've missed another 'Dark Tower' nod in this doggone show, right out in the open: War Chief Sesqui's headdress, which is a bear. 👀

Some 'Dark Tower' lore ahead to explain the possible significance. Beware: Bout to be nerdy on main! 😆

So 'It: Welcome to Derry' is serving up a hearty helping of pissing me off, a side of breaking my heart into a million pieces, and then topping it off with "Oh, fuck!" for dessert today.

Some shameless promotion! If anyone's interested in a slightly more fleshed-out version of Izuku and Ochako's conversation from today's episode, here's a one-shot I wrote last year. 😁❤️ archiveofourown.org/works/58942213

Homemade low carb "Chipotle bowl." I am *full* lol. 😋

For the curious: Cooked seasoned ground beef (chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, Tajín, and black pepper) mixed into cauliflower rice, topped with shredded cheddar cheese, salsa, sour cream, and green onion.

So, Enjin from 'Gachiakuta.' Is he or is he not just Hawks's cooler, tatted up older brother? Because in my head, he is. 😂

I need more commotion out here about this 'Ordeal' webtoon, because *wtf do you mean* the author did a collab with Capcom and created a special chapter promoting Sagat's release in 'Street Fighter 6'?! 🤩🙌🏽

Went to see 'Him' with the hubby earlier, and it was just as crazy as I thought it would be lol. Some takeaways:

- Marlon Wayans and Tyriq Withers be *acting.*

- The visuals/cinematography? 😘🤌🏽

- Die-hard football fans can be cult-y.

- Bobby Boucher's mama was trying to warn us! 😂

Catching up on ‘Invasion’ on Apple TV+ and I’m giggling about how this character Nikhil looks like Indian Bruce Leroy. The hubby just called him “Chaimak,” and now I’m wheezing. 🤣💀

(For reference, Nikhil, played by Shane Zaza, on the left; Taimak on the right.)
