Feel like there's lots of good games ppl aren't willing to admit may be on par w their goats simply bcus they've had dozens or hundreds of hours juicing everything out of them but expect w/e they're playing next to do the same thing in 1-10 hours.

When I was a kid I imagined the future of video games (in like 40 years) would ramp up APM to some absurd degree like the "normal" action twinstick/top-down hack-n-slash kit would be at minimum 5 unique attacks on at-most 1s cooldowns and doing even a 2s cooldown was seen as old and archaic.

I fear for the day I recount how an actual person talks to me through dialogue in a game or some fic I want to write and some armchair critic looks at it and goes "hmm seems a little reddit quirky indie syndrome for me", heaven forbid someone speaks in any other manner besides Merriam Webster.

The almost fetishistic nature of tracking games credits is so bizarre to me dawg. I know filmheads do this even more but like. I don't care if Clover's Janitor works at Koei-Tecmo now fam, and if there's one thing we should know it's that shared credits do not equal consistency.

Sometimes I feel like I play a lot of games but then see ppl with like 2k+ who I know don't invest that time into them and get confused, wtf am I doing? Then I look inside and see log after log of "abandoned" n shit on games that were seemingly played only to leave the 1* on. Bullet dodged.

I don't rly care about when people call it quits on a game but I really wish you'd have started with "I didn't make it out of the tutorial" before pretending to have anything to say about the game; I don't even mean having played it, you can watch things and learn too. Just say you didn't have fun.

It's good that they do, but I hope they're left to explore it on their own terms. Some people can be really frickin' weird about how younger people 'should' interact with retro tech. And with some of it, hacked consoles and ROMs are the only way of playing games due to the cost of some classics.

"Obviously this was meant to be played on a CRT, that's why I use shaders!" and it's non-integer scaled, doesn't actually look like any real CRT mask and on a low res display.

Why am I so against generative AI in games?
Because I simply do not want my initial reaction to art to be one of suspicion and scrutiny, AI slop is fundamentally damaging my relationship to art and artistry, and I am deeply resentful that it is forcing me to be guarded when I should be wowed.
