Never walk out in the open when talking. Always talk to people behind cover.
If they say they're friendly, tell them to put their gun away to prove it. If they keep walking toward you with their gun out, esp like they're trying to get around your cover, open fire. They are NOT friendly.

Group play on Arc is always a bloodbath, because the thinking is that if you play with randos at least one of them is going to be bloodthirsty. Lack of control in that degree causes more PvP.

With that said, diplomacy isn't dead but is fragile.
