I could go on a long rant about this as someone who has lived in both places and gone across Europe a lot, and also being romani, aka the root of the “Europeans turn into H*tler when you mention romani people” meme (idk if stuff gets sniped on this site yet sorry)

(Western cuz the Eastern ones are the ones they discriminate against based on historical proximity to Turks/Romani people/Russians, so the Eastern ones either are open with their racism or deny involvement claiming victimhood when they had chattel slavery/Holocaust collaboration/sterilisation)

It’s intricate but at the end of the day they will look at the color of your skin/the colonial status of your culture and it’s just the same shit as across the pond. Western Europeans just pretend they are better because they are well versed in closet racism. The colonial term is “Benevolent racism”

SESTA*

Yes, FOSTA/CESTA is what eventually led to the App Store wide banning of certain apps due to payment processor regulations. Trump signed the it into law in 2018. It led to The Great Tumblr Migration, and the tightening noose around Patreon, etc.

and also the larger issue of (visible) racism in the south as well. (Settler colonialism in the North vs Internal Colony in the South).

Okay rant over

And a note about racialised werewolves in Swedish culture is that the further south you get the more monstrous the werewolves are portrayed. Some folklorists theorise it either has to do with how animism relates to folklore in Sapmi (north) vs the influences of mainland Europe (south)

And we see this a lot in literature where racialised people and their culture serve as the danger, especially in horror and romance (and dare I say transformative works).

Per law anyone not white was not considered human, and automatically denied that they had human intellect.

I say “other” because many times the law in how to dispose of mixed children were the same as how to dispose/return children of mermaids and “fairies”, etc. And mermaids were by law considered real. Real racialised peoples were also racialised as beasts and considered “the other”.
December 5, 2025 at 3:45 PM
In Swedish folklore mermaids took their tails off to walk on land during the full moon and have relationships with men, and it was serious business to the people at the time. Entire laws were written cause of this. For several decades mermaids had more rights than “other” racialised peoples.

Like last name or what? I’m from a much smaller country so a lot of the time there’s only one person with a name in the entire nation. So like what do you mean by “area” or “name”, how narrowed down are you talking?
