But aren't there still going to be briefings, just once a day not twice? And occasionally these briefings will be replaced by a televised press conference?

Or maybe the whole lobby system is out of date and in need of change as argued by @jamesmchapman.bsky.social over at X to the original post.

Isn't the outrage to this by lobby journalists overblown? There's still going to be a morning lobby which *sometimes* will be replaced by televised announcements. More transparency for voters who can hear the answers directly?

In comparison to the last 2 sets of strikes, unity from resident doctors could be an issue. 20% of doctors aren't members of BMA. And of those that are members, only 55% voted. So not a majority. Be interesting to see turnout if strikes go ahead, especially as started with 5 days of strikes...

Not sure those journalists could really be classified as "fair minded" when the quote has deliberately been cropped. Starmer makes clear he read some bits of the book and knew that the meetings described didn't take place. Therefore how much of the book is fact or fiction...? Full quote -

Agree, but unfortunately the PIP criteria & its implications for many are drowning that out. Yet in the White paper they talk about the need for change on this but will take time. Should include rethinking of wording of descriptors. Is this a way forward?
June 24, 2025 at 9:23 AM
Always thought that one of the intentions was to relook at the PIP descriptors. And this is implied in the paper. Currently there are 10 areas & the proposal is claimant need a 4 in one area to qualify....
