not saying you'd necessarily "get" the manga anymore so but the anime is not just a flawed adaption, it sets out from the outset to tell a fundamentally different story.

anime is bad. changes a LOT of stuff. director said he wanted to "fix" the manga. he and the author made passive aggressive snipes at each other on their blogs. they put on a good face and squashed the beef for the media so difficult to say how much honest animosity there was. but I have a grudge.
