At the same time, most of us want anyone who engaged in child trafficking or sexual assault to be held accounting, and that includes Bill Clinton. So the underlying reason for the Justice Department kinda falls flat. If Clinton did it, I want him punished.

The fact that these people, who continuously work against the interests of the very same people who vote for them, keep getting elected should be an embarrassment to us all. Democracy hasn't failed as if by magic; it failed by voter disinterest fueled by antidemocratic rhetoric from conservatives.

But also, those people on social media claiming to be doctors and nurses and whatnot have been telling us Trump was weeks from death since 2018, and unfortunately he's still here. So... y'know.

I dunno, this worries me. It has vague "Death of Stalin" vibes that I don't like. The incredible weakness of Congress and the courts has been exposed. That is very dangerous, but no less so when the personality at the center of the cult suddenly disappears.

Would there be a power struggle? What happens if Vance and Miller give conflicting orders? We know that state violence is clearly not beholden to law, so it is apparently a question of ideological loyalty. For now, that loyalty manifests to one person. What happens if it splits?

For now, the malignant White House is manifested in one person. What happens if he dies tomorrow? Who's in charge? Ostensibly it should be JD Vance, but would it actually be? Stephen Miller is the chief architect of executive malice, and he and Vance don't like each other.

I don't think we're ready for his death. We've seen clearly that a malignant White House has all the power. The apparatus of state violence falls in line without so much as a question. A stray general here or there might resign, but the White House gets its way.

I don't know what happened with Kiffin, but seeing his name just reminds me I really don't like him. Like, as a human. I don't remember why anymore because I have been unplugged from college football for several years now. The coaching shenanigans is part of why I checked out, I think.

One of the great shortcomings of bsky is only being able to heart posts and not, say, apply a whole stack of relevant reaction emojis to it.
