But if they liked your previous, let's say, chill track, mention it! Thank them for supporting that release, and let them know your new one is in a similar style 💬🔁

This is a great little feature to decide whether to submit to (or skip) this curator with your latest track. If they declined a past song(s) for being too slow, and your new release has a similar chill vibe, it might be best to pass.

... and this happens every day (hundreds of times per week) 🤩

Pro tip: Make sure to upload every new song on SubmitHub, even if you're not planning a campaign with it yet. You never know 😉

If you think about your chances, which, especially with curators, might be better on a less busy day, you might just consider trying a different release day. You can always go back to Friday for your next song if this approach doesn’t feel better afterward 💡

Did you know, though, that editorial playlists also update on other days? Besides Fridays, Wednesdays are common, too. Plus, editors often pick up songs later on, it doesn't need to be on release day.

From all that feedback, take what gets repeated and feels right to you. To fine-tune your targeting, you can always ask curators if they agree with your chosen genres in the optional request for Honest feedback.

If you're unsure, start by gathering feedback – from friends, fellow musicians (think Reddit or Hot or Not), or on socials (especially Threads). Add in the results from our What’s my genre?, and think about your influences, too (google the genres of artists that inspire you).

🗓️ It's a busy Friday and you feel like pitching your song? Go ahead with your campaign – set your curators, but schedule for Saturday, Sunday, or Monday (the least busy days on SubmitHub). Curators with a fresher mind are usually more receptive than those swamped with subs.

🗓️ If you’ve received approvals from curators & plan to release a similar song, use that! Pick the same curators and adjust the pitch ("You liked my XY, so I thought my YZ would be perfect for you too"). Schedule it to avoid seeming pushy – wait at least 2 weeks (preferably 3-4).

P.S. You can also start with the smallest credit purchase ($10). If you don’t use them all, you can easily gift any remaining credits to an artist friend.

After a while, you'll have enough to try out one or two curators and get a feel for the platform, pretty much for free 🫰

👍 Use Hot or Not more. Not just to get feedback but to understand the curating process. Give a few meaningful reviews to fellow artists daily, it'll help you grasp the curation game better & earn some Premium credits, too. You might even become a Verified Reviewer along the way!

📝 Use your feedback! Even if the campaign wasn't a huge success, our press quotes extractor or running feedback through AI can help refresh your social content and EPK with new quotes and praise.

🖋️ Make sure to send each song to a few bloggers to build your SEO and leave a footprint with each release. Your future self will thank you, and you never know, one day a blogger might say, "I actually interviewed them when they were just starting out!"

🎯 Spend less on credits – but be pickier. Give those extra 10 minutes to check the curators' recent shares and playlist previews, and tell them where you believe you fit. It’ll be much harder to decline your song.
