Humanities librarian, doctor of queer film stuff, aspiring spinster, cranky, Kansan in New England; worried I left the stove on. Proud parent to growing horde of houseplants.
Might be worth looking specifically at work on iconic instances—Revenge of the Nerds, High Fidelity, How I Met Your Mother, Ted Lasso, Fboy Island, etc.. From a theoretical angle, Kate Manne on himpathy and Michael Kimmel on aggrieved masculinity could be useful as well.

Hm. I can’t think of anything holistic, but there’s a good chapter on Tom Hanks and “American Nice” in this volume: cup.columbia.edu/book/masculi.... And a piece in The Conversation: theconversation.com/from-flowers...

I can't think of anything more poetically just than misremembering Harold Bloom's name.

Let us not forget this very long, very strange 1833 poem by a dentists: publicdomainreview.org/collection/d...
*Dentologia: A Poem on the Diseases of the Teeth* (1833)
A sprawling eighty-page poem about teeth, written by an eminent dentist, with fifty pages of erudite endnotes.

FWIW, after one stereotypically bad experience, I looked for a dealership that employed multiple women as sales reps and contacted one of them. Not sure I necessarily got a better deal than I would have otherwise, but she was a lovely human and the process just felt so much less icky.

Frankie is my all-time fave, but the pup is Mick...the rescue had named her Miracle, so it conveniently paid homage to that as well :)

Nope—the whole thing about Dream sending Nada to Hell for refusing to be his queen.

Woof. Haven't read anything by him since American Gods, I think, and really don't feel the need to now.
