As a result there's an urge to over-explain. And to fix that, you might end up over-correcting and under-explaining instead. It's a tough line to walk!

Is it just enough to let the audience know that the spy was simply in a position to get that intel?

You don't want the audience to have questions about the wrong things. You want them to wonder where the story is going, not why they didn't do one simple thing that would solve everything.

This is a pretty common question when writing in general, especially for genre fiction. It applies to worldbuilding, to logistics, and even as to how characters accomplish their goals!

For example: does your audience need to know exactly how a spy stole detailed intel on his enemy? Or...

Something useful about using a PPV, though, is if you keep it 0. You can use this as a debug mode, allowing you to freely move around the game world without triggering or needing to trigger flags for events.

The Plot Progression Value is an invaluable tool when creating a game.

Now, this may seem obvious (especially if you're already developing a game), but it can be a bit of a challenge to design around this Plot Progression Value. If you're too liberal with increasing the PPV, it can make it difficult to keep track of changes to your game world.

As the PPV increases, various flags in the game world rise and fall. NPC Dialog will change to reflect what's happening in the story, new actions become available to the player, or other options might become unavailable temporarily or permanently.

The PPV is the timeline that games, particularly RPGs, use to determine what happens and when.

When the game starts, our PPV is automatically set to 1. And then, every time there's a major change in the story and the game world needs to reflect that, that number is increased.

so that we can get it out of the way and really focus more attention onto working on Rising Hearts. That said, if we do start gaining Patrons before the Early Access release, we will absolutely honor all of the Patron rewards.

Now, of course, we're very aware that there isn't currently much reason to pledge to our Patreon at the moment; there isn't currently a game to play, and there won't be until at least late May. But we still felt it was nevertheless a good time debut the Patreon before the game, primarily

Patrons will have early access to updates, extra content, and will even be able to vote on certain aspects of the game, as well as other perks.

It will not be finished. At most it will be the opening few hours of the game (roughly three dungeons and some sidequests). Afterwards there will be bi-monthly updates adding new content.

Before then, we'll be creating a Patreon (of Ko-Fi).

those aspects will take a backseat to the character moments.

To wit: special attention will be paid to ensure that the player characters are each interesting, engaging, and (hopefully) lovable. Player feedback on the player characters and NPCs will be paramount.

This time, we'll be discussing the philosophy behind the story:

The story of Rising Hearts focuses on the characters first, and the actual plot second. There's an emphasis on character interactions and slice-of-life moments, and while there will be action, adventure, and excitement
