What we do need is more, far more, politicians who actually care for this nation, and who will finally have the guts to tax the rich appropriately so that the whole nation can benefit from our natural resources. But that is unlikely to happen, is it. So let's talk rubbish.

Australia does need more tradies, there is no doubt, and the only way to increase that number is by encouraging more people to want to take up a trade. However, it is simplistic to say that increasing apprenticeships is some kind of economic silver bullet.

I totally agree with your arguments. One thing I've noticed is that when we are critiquing our own policies and practices, we rarely look at other countries and what works for them and how their practices evolved and improved. We could learn a lot from others.
