Another year, another batch of mason bee cocoons! The girls did great and I ended up cracking lots of reeds and gathering a bunch. They’re now all rinsed and clean, chilling in the fridge with a little temperature/humidity gauge 😴
A handful of dry reeds, one partially cracked with a pincher tool used to open the reeds and extract cocoons. A few mason bee cocoons are visible off to the side. Bee frass (poop) and dirt are scattered across the work surface. A large number of mason bee cocoons are laid out on some shop towels after a couple of rinses in clean water. Some spray-on CleanBee solution tubes are visible on the side.

Finally had a chance to work on the Delicata squashes from my final farm box of the season. Kind of a fussy operation, breaking them down, scooping out seeds, slicing them up and seasoning them with butter, salt , pepper. Roasting now, we’ll see how they turn out - first time cooking these
