Stray Bird Dog

Brat out of the southern mountains, served in the air for 3 decades, including too much time with sand between my toes. Practicing Democrat going back to Senator George McGovern's run. Educatid.
I had close friends who were from India in my undergraduate days, when library employment brought us together 40 hrs a week. Much later, in graduate school near MacDill AFB, I had a friend who's doctor father was from India, her mom a nurse of European ancestry like me. My lovely, violinist friend!😔

I wanted to test out a new skillet that is a bargain from the nearby Army post in chilly Alabama. The Spam had to come out of a family member's RV this month and I didn't know the smell of it would be so attractive to my best friend. Now, I'm in the dog house and he's asleep in the warmest room.

That's the goodest thing today, right up there with seeing a multicolored hawk a short distance away flying low after five lusty wild turkeys in the same woodland gave my bird dog the cold shoulder and walked away with dignity intact.
Believe me, a retired Naval Flight Officer sees that thru tears!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your full household. There's a snoozing dog with me, a resident wild Alabama bunny out the back window somewhere, and a warming sun above!

When I touched on the heart to like this I was gratified it made 113 likes, which matches the November 3rd date when a very good little dog with a desire to succeed in the second adoption of that weekend came to rescue me. Charlie 🤠

Cackle! Will they throw my dog a bone? He needs to put on some more winter fat.

I'm a typical male and, along with having a li'l dog visit a yard prior to rain, I moved my older, scuffed up truck from an exposed place. When I moved the newer, economical car in the same way I scuffed the paint on a fender (color of a Thanksgiving sweet potato). Charlie doesn't know about it yet🥴

So, if the sweater is sleek and soft to the touch, perhaps wrapped around a Naval Aviation flyboy walking a college campus in your very own neighborhood, there might be a natural response akin to flames in a fire ring?

Happy Monday! My love on display was another visit with Charlie to his veterinarian (his ears got a little feverish and required intervention). The crew supporting the doctor seem to have our rescue(r) dog's and dad's happiness at heart. We bought enough meds for various needs to stuff his stocking.

I'm totally down with that (I'm a sailor, after all). But my love Charlie will blush so!😉

Good night. This pretty boy is on his way from by my knee to go have a lie down.🐶

I'm carrying on with all sails aloft that I can carry after cooking with another. It isn't to Charlie's liking that I'm frozen food microwaving Dolly Parton brand pot roast and veggies because this little bit extra (lagniappe!) is crackers with pub cheese he thinks smells good🥴
Selfish doggy daddy🐕🐷

And gratitude for my Charlie and those he loves to be among.

My bedroom is a listening post tonight for an aging rescue fellow who listened with anticipation to his favorite feminine hooman who's announced a weekend visit us. We were down in Florida with these family folks who were praising a shelter pup whose life had tragedies the day after Veterans Day. 😍😘

Expect jets like Senator John McCain or I flew to be shot down in Cent. America. I'm trained as a bomber copilot in Navy jets then got orders to fly in Central Commander's aircraft as crew so 1000 hours reached😁
My point: Women & men flying military a/c with less hours are eager to go in harm's way.

Good morning, being behatted in the new old house seems fitting. I've yet to doff my big blue knit hat with golden letters that spell NAVY. Frost was on the top of my car in the yard yesterday way south of Tampa. After driving back up to Alabama I see frost and cold wrecked my giant tomato plant! 🍅

We long to hear tails of Elvis, celebrating Veterans Day as we are.

When the wind blows cold we travel south anyway to look out for our military family elders, this dog and I can handle air quality which makes it harder for my lungs to carry on. Other burn pit veteran survivors are worse off. We need Congress to get funds for the VA on track and to keep the faith!

Have a good morning this Veterans Day my friend! Charlie & I rode a brisk north, sometimes favorable west, wind down to our Florida coast where waves will be breaking bad. Chuckles came home to this modest place from the shelter. I find he's even more comfort as we get older. He snuggles my jeans! 👖

Giving away my age but I'd sure use my discretionary income to get more Taylor Swift's music playing as I regularly sold blood plasma when I was a hospital orderly so I'd 5 bucks to buy brilliant Bonnie Raitt LP releases. Happy Birthday to our beautiful Ms. Raitt! My stereo works in the garage here.

News is too good to lose! Charlie can't see across our roomy rural street (made for Army helicopter emergency landings?) in this fog. If he plays his yard cards we'll he might share in my breakfast with extra cheddar cheese. The radio goes to news panels doing weekly summaries early in Central Time.

So far I've achieved a bit of whimsy in response to the disappeared yoghurt. But, despite the dense fog we have in southeast Alabama this dog wants to go for a truck ride because of himsy, I believe.

All true. You rock where big hearted dogs and lucky dog daddies are found! Charlie's met the pretty companion dog to a marine blown up in Iraq. Marine gal dog Narla (?) had a hip replaced after a roadside bomb, I'm told. Charlie got in close for kissy face in our front yard and his tail wags well!😍🐕

That's why I find, at my age, crackers should hold cold chicken white meat I carved from a BBQ glazed rotisserie bird. I've sense enough to know a bird dog handles that approvingly. Trump could learn from living with a dog. I'm not fool enough to try cheddar cheese on crackers in front of him ever.🥺
