I talked about the infection of cozy in the context of TTRPGs on a TikTok, wherein the expectation of a singular affective mode (comfy/cozy/nice) hamstrings story efforts. But the thing is—it’s not just a problem in TTRPGs. It’s a larger problem. But talking about it incurs social risk. 1/?

So one thing I’ve learned is that so many of those label bot nets are…laughably imprecise. One of the most anti-colonial folks I know on here? Labeled as MAGA. Fascinating. This is weird.

Put the physiognomy/phrenology back. Just put it back. It was never real, never legitimate, and is just a justification for horror. Throw it in the dumpster where it belongs.

I think a lot about the story Carl Reiner told: he’d have been a sewing machine repairman if not for a free WPA drama class. That led to other theater work, to Sid Caesar, to Mel Brooks, and all the rest. All because of one free class paid for by a government that felt the arts were worth teaching.
