I only master French, English, & one day Spanish

I read reasonnably well Dutch & German
I read with heavy linguistics bag of tricks: Italian, Portuguese, Romanian
I feel at ease but still rely on MANY translations: Swedish Danish Norwegian - they no longer feel totally foreign, I recognize enough

I focus on social media written texts
Headlines, reactions/comments, and news article (but mostly headlines)

Even if the vocabulary is different than casual oral communication, the repetitivity and mostly the coherence with other languages news, makes the context really help understanding

With Swedish-Danish-Norwegian, for the moment, seeing the linguistics consonant/vowels drifts, there are really a lot of meaning that becomes guessable from Dutch and relatively distant German.

The work is much less compared to English proximity, in my opinion
For now I do not find them difficult

I'll go back at greek once slavic languages are clearer in my mind

My personnal target for keeping a language in my work/read zone, is when I feel ok with the grammatical language used

Reading explanation in the language itself
I don't care the time it takes after that stage, it is adopted.

About Dutch, I love this language
The pronunciation is super hard, above all for listening, since they have drastically different accents from north holland to flanders

But the written form has an real charm
And my scandinavian mental map is clearly influenced by my understanding of Dutch

I am not there yet to express myself in written form in scandinavian.
I try to pronounce when I read

For the moment I have given up on Danish pronunciation, I will need to look at that again later
It seemed at first even more crazy :-)

IIRC, "det" pronounced "dom" in swedish is a jewel though :-)

typo: foet = voet (I have many difficulties with the f v and w sound in dutch/flemish, it stumbles on my german, I have had hard time seperating the two in my mental model... and even still ;-) )

But admitedly the Scandinavian version are also super close
In reality in my notes I have put all germanic/scandinavian languages together

I clearly have to make clear my distinguishing Old English From Middle English, and I think your video will help in this direction
