I post about Islands of Adventure a lot. ✨ Other theme parks too!

My body would physically shut down if I voluntarily listened to they Trolley music for 13 hours, but I agree. 😅

I think it's the same one from Nightingales: Blood Pit too, and probably a bunch before my time. I'm sure! Strip all the good props and then remove the facades and such.

It was so gorgeous, even the floor was beautiful!

So that's the *exact* house I thought about today. 😭 I remember hoping they were being super gentle and respectful with that sledgehammer.

No matter what people said about this park, it's sad to see a lot of these coasters reach the end of their lives. I feel bad for those who are losing their home park and those who worked there.

Farewell, Six Flags America.

Defunct!

Batwing was a Vekoma flying dutchman that opened in '01 but didn't quite make it to the finish line in '25, closing this past summer.

The park's other defunct coasters:
Python '93–'98
The Great Alonzo's Cannonball Coaster '93–'98
Two Face: The Flip Side '99–'07

The final coaster to mention is Ragin' Cajun.

Unfortunately, this 2014 spinning wild mouse was closed on my visit. Apparently it's surprisingly wild. Hopefully this gets relocated so I can find out for myself someday!

Firebird continued. This former stand-up coaster opened in 1990 and was relocated to Six Flags America in 2012 as Apocalypse.

In 2019, it ditched the stand-up trains for a floorless conversion, being renamed to Firebird. I was shocked this has fire effects. Nicely done.

Firebird is historic for being the first coaster produced by Bolliger & Mabillard (B&M). There's a good chance one of your favorite coasters is a B&M.

If you're unaware which coasters B&M has made, here are some in Florida:
Hulk
Dueling Dragons
Mako
Manta
Montu
Kumba

The real punk rock is Superman: Ride of Steel.

This is my favorite coaster at the park by far. Made by Intamin, this hypercoaster is a near-identical clone of the one at Six Flags Darien Lake, reaching 208 feet high and speeds up to 73 mph. Fantastic ride.

Also opening in 1999 was The Joker's Jinx.

This is a Premier Rides launched coaster—an outdoor clone of the Flight of Fear coasters, except under the big blue sky and without that pesky mid-course brake run. I think these coasters are always so underrated.

Since I'm mentioning all the coasters, I have to mention Great Chase, which is a Zamperla family coaster. Other than the fact that it opened in 1999, I have nothing to say about this. 😅 You're shameless if you have the credit. But who cares?! Moving on!

Do the Roar!

Opening in 1998, this twisted woodie was manufactured by Great Coasters International (GCI), which also made the original Gwazi at Busch Gardens Tampa among many others.

GCI makes some of my favorite woodies. This isn't quite on that level, but still worthwhile.

Next up, grab some Advil for Professor Screamore's SkyWinder.

This Vekoma suspended looping coaster (SLC) opened as Mind Eraser in 1995. Appropriate name.

It was refurbished with new trains in 2024 as part of the old Coyote Creek area's transformation into SteamTown. Nice area.

First up, the park's oldest, The Wild One.

This woodie first opened in 1917 at Massachusetts' Paragon Park. It closed there in '84. It was relocated and reopened in '86 at Six Flags America, which was then known as Wild World.

It is the oldest coaster in the Six Flags chain.

Real quick, I've been to this park only once. I planned a trip to visit before its closure.

I loved the colonial feel and thought areas of the park had potential. I genuinely enjoyed my visit, even though some coasters were closed.

On with the thread!
