Yep, he was able to confirm it to me on Twitter and how this arc is based on X-MEN (1963) #185 -- What if Rogue did to Ororo what she did to Carol?
My confusion was stemming from her conjuring the bird. It looked a little like thunder and since there was no spells being said I saw it as her power
