Happy 30th to Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake! Such an epic show lineage to have been a part of.

1st photo was on a lake in Hyde Park for a 3D film of the show in 2010. 2nd + 4th are by Nicholas Karlin at Kennedy Centre in US 2020. The 3rd was me backstage 2009, surviving Act 2 as best you can.

Look what just arrived. Looking forward to getting into this later! Particularly interested in the concept of the streets as an urban commons.

Arrests in Norwich today for expressing support for PA. Interesting that the police quoted the reasons for intervening from the Public Order Act 1986. They have nothing to do with the powers in the Terrorism Act 2000 which were used to arrest the protesters. Link to article in post below.

Not charged yet. That's likely because they were taken to temporary pop-up sites to log their personal details and bailed pending a charging decision by the CPS. Charges likely to come later.

With all the discourse about the term Terrorism and its application, found this nugget at Bishopsgate library last week. It's in reference to a violent clash between the Met and a group of around 20,000 protesters in Trafalgar Square in 1887, labelled Bloody Sunday at the time.

However there is another aspect that interested me this time. The Met have taken to labelling spatial areas such as 'conditioned area' and 'sterile area', demarcating zones of behavioural exclusion/inclusion in law. I havent noticed these terms used before, though maybe wasnt paying attention.

Interesting that they were arrested under s.13 rather than s.12, and shows the considerable potential overlap between them. One has a max sentence of 14 years, the other 6 months. I wonder if that factored into the power used.

The Met here state that they have considered the cumulative impact of protest when imposing conditions yesterday. They no longer have this power as the Regs that introduced it were deemed unlawful by the CoA. If so, this is an unlawful use of powers.

What they don't tell you is that if a person is granted a 'short term' award, then the DWP force them to make a New Claim rather than a #PIP Renewal.

This concession will only affect those on long term awards, everyone else will be forced into the new rules once their 'short term' award ends.

This is quite the statement from the Met, who are meant to remain impartial.

Imagine being at a protest knowing that the police officers standing nearby are just waiting for an excuse to arrest you or be rid of you?

So Trump announces tariffs on movies and that he's re-opening Alcatraz.

He watched this over the weekend didn't he?

They're going to crush fly-tippers' cars?

Im very confused. The Met have confirmed only 37 uses of s.12 conditions on protests between Jan 2023 - Oct 2024 in the PCC report (p. 41).

My research on JSO slow marches counted at least 168 uses between April - May 2023 alone.

Their own data claims 411 uses between 06/22-03/24. Bit odd?

I didnt realise they were making an Age of Empires 5. 4 was very good. Shame Europe won't be a playable faction though.

I saw a flyer for an event the other day that said:

DJ and Dancing
Magician

It wasn't clear that these related to different things. A dancing magician sounded very fun but turns out they didnt exist.

Then I get home, put on Bob's Burgers, and what do I see? Dancing magician!

I work assisting with appeals for #PIP at NCLS. I see the awful impact that unrecognised difficulty can have on people, both physically and mentally. It is not an exaggeration to say cutting PIP will cause people to die. 1/7

Came across this post from 9 years ago on Facebook re the racism surrounding the Brexit vote. Feels odd re-reading it today.

Millionaire non doms can pressure the Gov into changing their policies. But what about the disabled and most vulnerable in our society who are having support unilaterly withdrawn and their bank accounts snooped on? How can they get the Gov to listen?

You're spelling 'net zero' wrong. It's spelled 'brexit'.

Farmers stage a 'go slow' protest in tractors on A5 and A14.

I wonder if this protest attracted the use of conditions by police? They can still be used where a procession may cause a more than minor hindrance to the making of a - single - journey.

Cant add link as BlueSky wont let me 🤷‍♂️

There's a bogus story going round that Musk is going to donate £100m to Farage to help him be the next PM. He won't, because he can't. Permissable donors listed below.

A possible loophole is through unincorporated associations, but if you declare £100m in gifts from a UA, it's gonna raise flags.
