it was pretty close. Bit more to one side and the tree would have come down on the stables which were fully occupied. Bit more the other way and it would have been my car which was charging a few metres from that gate.

Yeah everybody's fine, thankfully. We are working to clear the obstruction and restore the gate so they can come back to the stables.
