Way back in the mists of time – or June 2017 to be precise – @drniklaw.bsky.social and I embarked on an endurance challenge for the ages, which was to listen to, and provide a pithy review of, every album on the Guardian’s list of 1,000 Albums To Hear Before You Die.
Smart glasses would have such an insidious, corrosive impact on interpersonal communication. We shouldn't allow the erection of what would become an immediate invisible barrier to trust. Imagine it: everyone guarded, hyper vigilant and on edge. And for what?

Considering Streeting's well stated belief autism, ADHD etc, along with mental health issues, are "overdiagnosed", I won't hold my breath for this doing anything other than being used to cut support, along with opportunities for diagnosis, for people who need it. #r4today

I got my haircut yesterday and for the first time the barber gently suggested that I may wish to have my eyebrows trimmed, so I've reached *that* stage in the journey of life. I gather it'll be my nose and ears next.

Well, this is an absolute gem, lads. A fusion of Americana and jazz (I know, who'd have thought that would work!). A Trick of the Light by Eli Winter. A strong contender for my AOTY. #nowplaying

Emma Pollock, still making gorgeous music almost 30 years after the first time I saw her play live with the Delgados. Her new album, Begging the Night to Take Hold – which includes this track – is very much deserving of your attention. #music #nowplaying #glasgow

I still feel slightly torn, strategically speaking, over having ditched X. I do wonder if departing the battleground of ideas and leaving X to de-evolve into echo chamber for toxic right-wing batshittery is the right move. Having said that, I don't want to generate clicks for its horrific owner.

Replace 'inching towards' with 'pursuing vigorously'. It's instructive, particularly for those in the UK, to also stress the role of Macron's centrists in legitimising the RN. He also fractured the 5th Republic's party structure with his strategically boneheaded dissolution of the assembly in 2024.
