I’ve got a study on the creation/implementation/enforcement of rules about online “political” content. Is there a translation of this available? 👀

Oh yeah I forgot about home repair stuff. YouTube is how I figured out that I'm definitely hiring a professional to fix my dryer instead of trying to do it myself. And also for us instructors, where does finding/playing clips for class fit into Youtube use? Does that count toward students' use too?

Not that I'm a young person anymore, but I use YouTube all the time. Using it right now to listen to lofi music while I work. Used it a couple days ago to answer a stats question. Use it daily to play a toothbrushing song for my 3yo.

Like other social media "use," it could mean so many things.

(Like yes, it was always political. But never partisan, at least.) There has been a marked tone shift under this second administration, which first became noticeable in DoD's response to SignalGate 2.0 re: Anthony Salisbury last month.

Their position is, every order Trump gives is legal because HE gave it; therefore, service members must obey every order he gives. Which is obviously horse shit.

Also, as a former PAO, it is distressing how far off the rails DoD statements have gone. There's zero pretext of being "apolitical."

If we honestly thought political violence was inherently unjustifiable in any circumstance, we wouldn't have had a holiday two weeks ago celebrating people whose primary job was to do violence.

We seem to simultaneously under- AND misunder-stand that some violence is justifiable, or even necessary.

Once we take political violence out of the abstract, we see that violence is often justified/permissible, and we often justify it. It's better to argue why specific acts of violence are (not) justified in specific scenarios by specific actors. But that's way more words than "political violence bad."

I think one problem is we start from the position that political violence is inherently bad. So when one points out violence (or training for it) on the left—even in defense against right-wing violence—people take that as the left being equally bad.

Seriously, and I cannot emphasize this enough, fuck this guy. He's a modern day Josef Mengele. Neurodiversity is part of human biodiversity. Autistic traits were evolutionarily selected for. They exist in every population, which means they existed when our ancestors left Africa millennia ago 7/x

In the military we often used “POO” to abbreviate ”point of origin.” Then again, if you’re talking about rounds coming at you, there might have been a little poo involved.
