And the AP have called the two referendum questions in Maine:
1. NO to disenfranchising voters needlessly, and
2. YES to allowing courts to bar people shown to be violent from having dangerous weapons.

With that plus the other good election news, I'll sleep soundly tonight.

I mean, they tell you why the default is 8000 right in the article you linked. Looks like they optimized for system performance over network stability and it broke in this use case.
