On this day in 1988, New York cop John McClane thwarted a terrorist attack on Nakatomi Tower.

I still get nervous when I accidentally wrap a present perfectly, because I’m always concerned my family will think there’s no way I wrapped a present without 20% more wrapping paper or 40% more tape than necessary

The Chefs were eliminated, the Patriots lost, and the Broncos won... it was a nice little Sunday!

well, this is a first...shopped at Whole Foods in Brentwood, realized we didn't get a paper receipt. I looked in my Prime account and realized they charged us for someone else's order. My vegetarian family did not buy several pounds of ground beef!

11: you guys know we have a half day tomorrow, right?

Us: …uh, we do now

Seriously, I don’t remember ever having this many half/days off in school.

Admittedly, I'm a bit of a nerd about stuff like this, but I like how STL County's website shows exactly where, and how much of, your personal property tax goes to.

The middle school bus is now a full hour and a half late with zero communications from the school, or any ability to reach a human. This is ridiculous. The elementary school bus, which dismisses an hour after the middle school, already dropped off Thing 2.

We went to our favorite restaurant tonight, a place we've been going for 12 years, and were greeted by the return of one of our favorite servers from our "early years" there. Completely surprised, in the best possible way. That place treats us like family, and we missed our old friend.

A nice stroll around Benton Park this afternoon

My organization’s janitorial service employs special-needs people. The man who empties trash in my office had a piece of pie today that someone gave him from a team potluck, and I can’t remember seeing a happier person, simply for being included. Little acts of kindness things matter.

What a world we have where I can return to a newly reopened workplace after six weeks and be surprised I *only* had 4500 unread emails

My wife pointed out something interesting just now...in the six weeks I've been furloughed and not receiving pay, not a single member of my blood family has reached out to ask if I was ok. Plenty of friends and non-blood family have, but no actual parent/relatives.

For the first time in six weeks, I’m picking out work clothes for tomorrow. Halle-friggin-luah! It will be nice to get paid again.

I was tossing a football with 11 and he asks, “did you mean to throw the ball that badly?”

No, son, that’s all natural

It’s Veterans Day and while I won’t be chasing free meals, I will drink enough coffee to resurrect a horse
