That's a funny one. 'On est' is singular, but 'tristes' is a plural agreement. I've never seen 'On est' rendered as 'we are'. Didn't know 'on' could be singular or plural, but the singular verb sitting between it and the plural adjectival agreement looks odd to me. Some next level French curve ball.
