Pike Goldschmidt has been hired by the #SFGiants as the director of baseball strategy, according to his LinkedIn page.

Goldschmidt worked in the A's front office the last seven seasons as a baseball operations analyst and — most recently — as director of baseball development.

Some news: Oscar Bernard, who was part of Bob Melvin's staff in San Diego in 2023, will be hired as an assistant hitting coach. Bernard was a minor league hitting coordinator for the Padres this past season. He's from the DR and his Spanish fluency was deemed a necessity on the hitting side.

As I understand it, Alyssa Nakken hadn't received much clarity on what her role would be on Bob Melvin's coaching staff. So this is a good opportunity to take a defined position while rejoining Kai Correa and Craig Albernaz. (Also, nice scoop, Steven!)

Walton, 30, played in nine games with the #SFGiants  last season after being a September call-up. The organization really liked his work ethic and attitude he showed in Triple-A and felt the promotion was warranted.

His solo-blast on 9/15 snapped SF’s 32-inning scoreless streak.
