The Fire Doors at the Dublin Castle last night. There's increasingly fewer bands that would get me out on a freezing cold January evening but Field Music (and one Futurehead) playing the music of The Doors in a tiny venue in Camden definitely qualify.

First time back here in over 25 years I reckon 😮

The books I've read and the audiobooks I've listened to in 2025. I really should have read these books a long time ago but I'm happy I finally got round to them this year. These audiobooks were great also.

Good lord!
yo la tengo's hanukkah cavalcaded to a close with florry, horns, peter stampfel & stephanie coleman for a michael hurley tribute, the room-flattening susanna hoffs ("i'll keep it with mine"! "manic monday"!) & of course ira's mom, 95-year-old marilyn kaplan. setlist: jessejarnow.com/2025/12/yo-l...

Oh wow ❤️
Did not have Lucinda Williams opening for Yo La Tengo on my Hanukkah dance card but it was absolutely great. Encores with her included “Yummy Yummy,” “Tears Are In Your Eyes,” and “Pale Blue Eyes,” which, wow!

I only really have one bucket list item in my life and that's to see a Yo La Tengo Hanukkah show. Apparently Norah Jones sang on Tears Are In Your Eyes 😍

I've decided that I'm going to post my favourite ten albums of 2025, one album per day, then will post a longer, more complete list of 50 albums I've enjoyed this year on 20th December. As always, so much good music has been released which has helped me stay sane/provided some sort of purpose.

Dirty Three at the Barbican. A truly extraordinary show by one of the most viscerally, thrillingly powerful bands on the planet. They create a sonic maelstrom like no other.

Stereolab at the Royal Festival Hall. An absolute joy as always (and almost 24 years since Shalini and I first saw them at the same venue back in 2002 - the first gig we went to together 🙂)
