Main driver of Truss's calamitous budget was to repair Brexit damage to growth.

Same as it is with Labour.

In a country whose national credit rating had just been badly trashed by Brexit, Truss tried tax cuts to boost growth, financed by borrowing.

The referendum vote did not rule out a Customs Union.

We would still be outside the EU.

Nonetheless, it's an almost instant 2.2% increase in GDP growth per year.

It's common sense.
