reminds me of Brian Cox's intro to "The Importance of Being Interested"

Brian Cox arguing that admitting you can be wrong is an important skill for scientists, and this is an argument for science being a part of education for longer. Being certain you are right means you are not a democrat - democracy rests on the idea we don't really know how to run a society, so we change politicians every few years.

Brian Cox (in his introduction to "The Importance of Being Interested" arguing that "the democratic process gently swings the pendulum one way and the other, and the swing is both the manifestation and guarantor of our freedom." We have to accept we might be wrong, so allow others to present their points of view.

We've been putting out water since it's so hot here (N. Glos.) It's been appreciated by this blackbird, who occasionally has a bath as well as a drink. It's a crap photo but it's this or the news and you've probably had enough of that.
