My most generous position here is that he likely knows of the problems in the organization but is hoping that he can improve things - better him than another and all that - but yeah I struggle to separate the good from the bad here... just hoping for some major change

Not a Rust dev but there's a few glaring red flags such as disabling invalid cast checking and switching between constants and mutable variables, seems like trying to break things for the sake of it?

Anthropic and others le you host their models in your own cloud boundary where they do not have access to your data whatsoever. The fact that OpenAI refuses to engage in this model tells you all you need to know about their respect for sovereignty. Trusting your data to OpenAI is definitely a choice

Agreed, and it's also helping them by stealing traffic from the recipe sites. I'm by no means saying it's the solution we need, the UX of recipe sites is almost entirely attributable to the same wealth extraction, but I understand why someone not thinking of this would feel it an improvement

Also recipe sites are cesspools of dark UX. Actually finding the recipe causes my phone browser to crash out - I don't care about the colour of the flowers at your aunties house on the day you first tasted adobo, nor do I care to sift through 50 ads - just gimme the fucking recipe - AI helps here
