When it comes down to it, the U.S. has to convince the world--the allies it needs--that it is fighting for something better than what China, Iran, North Korea, Russia et al are fighting for. I don't think the United States can plausibly make this case today.

Seriously, we've won every war without being lawless scumbags. Why start now? Stay on this path, and we'll be fighting MUCH larger wars in the near future--and we may not win those. Who's going to assist a criminal force fighting illegally for nothing & no one other than a handful of corrupt people?

I've always thought that it is not capitalism per se that is hateful, rather those that practice it at the top who are--these who do not value the natural world or human society. Capitalism smooths the way for the most craven of human impulses to flourish, but it doesn't dictate them.
