Sam’s Dad, Adelyn’s husband & State Representative for MI HD81.

I’ve accepted my living room will never be clean again.
We had a great time walking in the Ada Fourth of July parade! Special thanks to those who came out to walk with us.

Happy #IndependenceDay!

I've said it before. I'll say it again: grown-ups shouldn't bully kids. Happy #Pride, Grand Rapids!

Please remember that today isn't just an excuse to grill, find bargains and mark the start of Summer.

Today, we remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice to our nation. Remember them today. Honor their sacrifice every day. #MemorialDay

“Let my Mama vote” was heard loud and clear this morning while Sam and I joined @notpoliticians.bsky.social to rally against the SAVE Act.

We gave women the right to vote and we ended poll taxes. The SAVE Act and its Michigan equivalent would undo so much of this, but we won’t let it happen!

Dr. King's was right to say the "arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice." Just don't forget we need to do the bending.

Walls of injustice have been put up countless times, but they've been overcome because good people persisted. Make sure you do too.

Then and today, we saw what Americans across every race, place, party and background want come true: the voters deciding who wins.

While the will of the voters has prevailed both times, elections are just as vulnerable to sabotage - if not more.

Four years ago, MAGA extremists tried to sabotage an election through insurrection. Thankfully, heroes of all kinds stopped them.

From Capitol police who stood in peril to protect others, to Senate staff who protected ballot boxes, heroes from all walks of life saved the day. 🧵

If you’re not participating in a one person toddler-friendly mosh pit to a Blink-182 cover on #NYE, are you even doing it right?

Happy New Year, everyone!

“When the song of the angels is stilled,
when the star in the sky is gone,
when the kings and princes are home,
when the shepherds are back with their flocks,
the work of Christmas begins.” - Howard Thurman.

May that work begin again. Merry Christmas, from our family to yours!

Thanks to all who joined tonight's swearing-in. Looking forward to serving Greater Grand Rapids with Representatives Glanville, Fitzgerald, Grant & Skaggs.

In the face of victory, defeat, unfinished work & renewed fears, let us keep going. The world only spins forward. The great work continues.

And that’s a wrap! I had my final Kent County Commission meeting yesterday. It’s been an honor to serve these last six years.

Thank you to the voters for their trust for three terms, my family for their continued support and all I served alongside.

Onward!

Wrapped up my last finance committee meeting this morning. Took the chance to stay after and clean out my desk. While my very last meeting will be in a few days, it was great to revisit so many memories with old papers and manuals.

Any guesses how many copies of the standing rules I had in there?

Hey folks! I’m excited to be here.

Those who don’t know me from other platforms, get ready for wonky posts about housing policy, state government, MSU sports and nerd culture.

Oh, and my family. ☺️
