Write for a living and do a bunch of other media related stuff too.

European Bureau Chief for Adweek by day/Not Batman by night.
Naive #advertising thought of the day after attending the Advertising Association’s annual Lead conference where everyone was talking about trust in the ad industry and the need to build it further - surely the only real way to do that is… to be honest? 🤷🏻‍♂️

What am I missing?

The never gonna happen Goonies sequel will be a #Super Bowl ad won’t it?

Good luck Harry! A cracking servant these last three seasons. Hearts fans probably don’t know just how good a signing this is.
We can advise that after two and a half years of excellent service Harry Milne has been transferred to Heart of Midlothian for an undisclosed fee.

As part of the agreement, Ethan Drysdale will be joining the club on loan for the rest of the season.

Spare a thought on #TransferDeadlineDay for the fans of lower league clubs with decent players and no money as they bid goodbye to their heroes. ⚽️

Musk isn’t worried about the financial performance of X or Tesla - it’s the influence and control it can give him that is his interest. That’s the same for advertisers - he wants them on the platform as much for their obedience as their money. Terrifying that he is continually successful too.

The end of the world is nigh 🌍
The world’s fossil fuel giants, together, are on course this decade to produce twice the amount of fossil fuels than a critical global warming threshold allows, a new report found. www.nytimes.com/2023/11/08/c...

John Lewis’ Christmas ad is out tomorrow - not feeling the same level of anticipation for it this year as usual but it is a decent entry! #christmas

I was listening to the radio earlier and someone talked about Matthew Perry’s legacy but they didn’t explain what that legacy was.

It was his attitude to helping men like himself overcome addiction. Talk about that too today when you remember him.
Matthew Perry, who was best known for his role as Chandler Bing in “Friends” and had a career in television that spanned nearly four decades, died on Saturday. He was 54. nyti.ms/46PVr1p

Hey @neilhimself.neilgaiman.com

I was just remembering one of the last convos I had with my mum before she passed suddenly. She had just read The Graveyard Book and we were talking about the possibility of a film.

It really wasn’t her usual genre but she loved it.

Thanks for that!

When Elon Musk bought Twitter a year ago, he said that it “obviously cannot become a free-for-all hellscape.” A year later, according to study after study, the platform now rebranded as X has become exactly that.
The Consequences of Elon Musk’s Ownership of X
Dozens of studies of posts on X from multiple organizations have shown a similar trend: an increase in harmful content during Mr. Musk’s tenure.

Robert DeNiro really can do charming when he’s on it. The new Uber ad is a great and oddly rare example of him being warm as an actor.

A #doctorwho 60th prediction I’m amazed I haven’t read elsewhere yet.

The 3 new series producers have teamed up to make SOMETHING set to drop on the 23rd of November and it will be insane!!!

I can’t be the only person to think this surely based on Moffat and Davis’ Insta hints in recent weeks. 🤯

Countries in the Nordics make great tourism campaigns.

Here, in a state address, Sweden negotiates with Switzerland what each country can keep to stop people from mixing them up with each other. 😂

Time for a different sort of commercial break....

Big streamers like Hulu, Peacock and Max are pushing 'pause ads,' or on-screen commercials that pop up whenever you halt your chosen show for a snack, a phone call or the bathroom....
