I wouldn't bother betting against them even if you think, as I do, that the business case makes little sense. For one, day trading individual stocks is generally a bad idea. For two, it acts like a meme stock, and underlying fundamentals matter very little to them.

What good reason is there to think either of those things will pay off anytime soon? Seems about as credible to me as the idea that Gamestop's underlying business is poised for a big turnaround.

That is, of course, just my personal opinion, and the market has long disagreed. But the market also told us Gamestop had "deep value" or whatever.

There's underlying value. As a relatively small car company whose growth has already stalled. There's little credible reason to think it will deliver on most of the wild promises Musk has churned out for over a decade now.

Tesla is a meme stock and has been for a very long time. Hype generation is Elon's main contribution to the company.
