From Norn Irn. Happy with complex national identity, unhappy with Brexit
FIFA History Prize 2025
Engineering degree, Development, Product Management & 12 yrs as MD.
Also BA & MA History, just because: decolonisation in Africa, nationalism, Ireland/UK
On the good side of the bad side, when I did this to S. America, colleagues who went via the US got so delayed in flight + US immigration that they missed their flight to blighty, so that would be worse.

Oi!
Stop taking the piss out of me, Ian.

(My OH has to endure me calling out “Mrs Binfield! Mrs Binfield!” every time we take the A329 between the M4 & Bracknell)

I think Scotland does nativity plays, yes, and though there are sectarian problems in places, there aren’t the built-in systemic structures in Ireland.
(tho’ my only experience of Scottish education system was Edinburgh University & we didn’t have a nativity play!)

I’m guessing that ‘Britain’ here means England/GB.
Belfast says Hi 👋
92% of children in NI attend religiously segregated schools.
The politics of changing this is fraught.

Advice from my past (your future?)
Keep the nativity plays, especially donkeys; ditch all the CofE/Catholic/Muslim schools

I think NATO would indeed be a Corbynesque Achilles heel for Greens.
British voters won’t entertain strong tankie tendencies.

They were on people’s cars though.
And I think the anti-GAA motivation is very political.
Same as intimidating people out of their homes for being Catholic or ‘forrins’ (plenty of recent examples of that in Belfast, Rathcoole & Ballymena).

Unfathomable.
I‘m guessing he was thinking about ‘traditional‘ terrorist groups not being involved, but this is nuts.
Lone acts of terrorism whether Islamist, white supremacist (like Oklahoma bomb) or this freelance loyalist thug are clearly *terrorists* and should be getting 10 yrs +
