Two different subjects are described as transvestites, should that be mapped to trans in more present day language? One, a possible (probable?) trans woman is referred to as her, while the other, a possible (probable?) trans guy is called a female transvestite.

I wonder how some of the subjects felt internally, how much they agreed with the title of the photographs - female impersonator, naked man being a woman, man in a bra and stockings.

I think my discomfort in part comes from the fact of the cisgender gaze. How much of the interest is in gnc people as ‘freaks’. There was certainly a matter of fact feel to many of the photographs which cuts across this, but some felt as though they were meant to evoke pity

I’ve just left Sadler’s Wells and very much enjoyed it. I got surprisingly teary at the end! Not sure that I’m necessarily a ballet convert but very glad I went
