I think it's supposed to convey that it's really phonetic and the monsters have weird names? Like the weird names are the selling point?

The result is this almost traumatizingly bizarre commercial that induces a state of anxiety and confusion.

For a long time, this was my only exposure to Zelda. I had no idea what the game actually was, so I assumed it was about this weird guy screaming things in the dark. I actually made a little fan game on my Apple computer about that.

There's some aspects I don't understand yet; the thread system is extremely quest focused which doesn't always click, and I don't see how you could open any old RPG campaign book and play it. Having absolute open information would mess with the play experience. But a sandbox approach works.

Also possible. I'm gonna be obviously calling and reporting the exact details so hopefully DoorDash can hunt this down but I am not thrilled with paying through the ass for a service that can deliver identity theft right to my doorstep

I guess my concern is that if this is the common denominator, the baseline, it can only leak from here. Force the issue by forcing more and more AI into these kinds of games that have core audiences that will never sway, and others will fall.

Straying off topic now and then isn't a terrible thing. I mean, the Venn Diagram here is probably a circle.

I honestly have no idea how to stem the tide of AI shredding human creativity and stealing jobs. So much money is being thrown behind forcing people to accept this as inevitable, common place, and an acceptable evil. We can finger wag and refuse to buy in to this fairy tale, but are we enough?

That's why I'm sticking with RenPy. Accessibility is one of my design pillars -- built-in text to speech with extra alt text tools, keyboard navigation, every QOL feature you need.

The drawback is no pipeline to consoles, but like... XBox is dead and Sony's PC-curious, so maybe less of a big deal?

Yeah, RenPy right out of the box supports everything: controller, keys, mouse, any combination. Sometimes spatially navigating the menus is rough but it works.

Unity-based ones, well, they're home-grown or using some other middleware which makes other assumptions about inputs.

Yeah, I keep instinctively trying to play it like it's puzzle fighter and failing miserably.
