Automation problem-solver, robotics software specialist, and your partner in optimising industrial systems.
Zack, I would request that you look into the ideas of the more radical anarchist movement. Books like Murray Bookchins - The Ecology of Freedom holds many answers. Plus I can offer support in terms of technological solutions and architectures to support your efforts.

Interesting. Although it’s also sad the way the industry has gone, it’s likely this machine learning model is computed away from the actual robot controller onboard an IPC type of device and then positions just streamed via socket messaging to the robot itself. Robot code is never seen as innovative

Talking about tech work and unions, we really need a union for the industrial tech world. Automation/Robotics etc It's an incredibly shady world with a lot of exploitation and harsh treatment of workers.

Also if for instance, if the GPI reflects worsening income inequality, the Universal Basic Income could be automatically adjusted upwards to counterbalance the social costs of an uneven distribution of wealth. In this way, the UBI becomes a tool for redistributing economic progress more evenly.

Income distribution is a core element of the GPI. This component measures how the benefits of economic activity are distributed among the population. Since UBI is designed to provide a safety net for all citizens, linking it to measures of income inequality would create an automatic stabiliser.

Personally, I don't agree with GDP. I think its the wrong metric to use in the modern world. Have you ever read about GPI? Genuine progress indicator? For me, UBI should be tethered to something tangible.
February 19, 2025 at 5:02 PM
The UBI in effect would need to be tethered to some other metrics to ensure it permanently rises or remains inline with all other financial metrics, to ensure it cannot be manipulated or co-opted in any way. I'm not suggesting its some big conspiracy theory, I'm for the idea.
February 19, 2025 at 1:45 PM
I think you miss my point, even if we have UBI, there's nothing stopping the already incredibly wealthy from continuing to artificially inflate prices of things until such a point that UBI is essentially worthless, its just enough to survive and that's it. In principle its a good idea though.

If you need any help with figuring it out, please do give me a shout :)

When you look at the vast expanse of time ahead of us, you can't help but realise it's all essentially meaningless. The universe is in motion, and in a thousand, million years time nothing that we say or do will mean a thing. But maybe the sentiment of compassion will linger?

One thing that bothers me is that a friend said to me recently that everyone is working towards utopia. It's just that a fascists utopia is a lot different from your idea of utopia, but its still utopia in their eyes.

The Chinese State Capitalist model also demonstrates how technological dystopias can form. Very cyberpunk. Saddens me to be honest that it seems more and more likely that this is the way we're going by default.
February 19, 2025 at 8:58 AM
Its actually how I arrived at the decision that I'm in alignment with Anarchism. You look at the trends in technology, ration out how the last 10,000 years has gone and extend that logic forward and you arrive at nothing good. The state communist left are also not immune to this authoritarianism.
February 19, 2025 at 8:56 AM
Even worse, we risk reinforcing these evolutionary bad behaviours forever more via technology, and as the elite wealth/power structures get infinitely wealthier we will create essentially a god like power structure with everyone else becoming economically inert. Maybe kept under control via UBI's.
February 19, 2025 at 8:47 AM
Because right wing ideologies/conservative capitalism only works if you enforce it through ridged social hierarchies and control mechanisms. If you then introduce technology, then the technology will be used to maximise those characteristics, which means increasing authoritarianism and inequality.
February 19, 2025 at 8:39 AM
Point of note: it’s also why they see the Chinese state as being something worth copying. A centralised dictatorship that has complete control over society, technology and surveillance. Sounds very cyberpunk dystopia to me.
February 19, 2025 at 5:14 AM
It’s also why I feel there’s a sense of desperation from these people right now. They are trying to find any means of continuing their positions of domination and power. It’s why it will likely turn to authoritarianism.
February 19, 2025 at 5:13 AM
If you see his Twitter page he’s showed several examples of how he sees the future. This is telling because in a highly technological world conservatism and right wing ideologies will struggle to survive without becoming tyrannical.
February 19, 2025 at 5:11 AM
It’s not quite fascism in the traditional sense but libertarianism has all the necessary elements to become a dictatorship, but with no state. It’s essentially like a corporate feudal state with oligarchs and warlords who own everything.
February 19, 2025 at 5:08 AM
Actually, I’ve had suspicions for a while that their whole MO, is more the libertarian wing. You could see the friendly’ness between musk and Javier Milei the self confessed “Anarcho-Capitalist” (free market radical).
