We do a shared Tikkun for Shavuot, and a shared outdoor hashkafa for Simchat Torah. We don't do shared services (though there are families that will attend whichever one has a better lunch that day).

My mother was in Korea for business for a few months. She loves kabbalat Shabbat, and went to Chabad services. After discovering that the "women's section" was a table completely surrounded by hospital curtains, she did what all the other women did and showed up for dinner only.

There have also been a few times that I didn't go at all. Every time was because the minyan made it clear they weren't interested in making even a grudging space for women.

There's some of that; I suspect much more in big cities like New York, where it's not often really a dilemma. I don't think I could attend an Orthodox synagogue long-term (mechitza too off putting) but I have gone when it was the only option.

My Conservative synagogue has an Orthodox synagogue across the street. There's a bit of a rivalry to attract members, but we do some shared events, and there are families that go to both.

Even so, there's a reason they're called "movements" and not denominations. People often freely move between them, or attend a synagogue based on liking the people or liturgical choices, rather than an ideological reason.

And - some White Jews do this. But I have seen too many takes that the security at synagogues and Jewish communitity buildings is just paranoia. That dangerous antisemitism is a thing of the past, or at least doesn't exist in the US.

The issue isn't "are we capable of talking to each other."

It's "are we capable of respecting each other."

At least on the left, it's the idea that Jews are not just White, but the quintessential White. White people use victimhood framing to protect against status loss; Jews must be doing that too, but extra sneaky.

Reimbursement rates are lower than for private insurance. So you do need to make sure the doctors can pay off their education loans. But that's definitely solvable.
